After a sluggish start, the Texans were the dominant team in the AFC South during the 2010s, winning six division titles in a nine-year span. But hope springs eternal again after the move to Las Vegas, especially with a spectacular venue like Allegiant Stadium to call home.Īs for the Texans, they weren’t born into existence until 2002, when football returned to Houston after a brief absence. After a Super Bowl loss in 2002, the Raiders have struggled to re-live their glory days during the 21st century. Amidst all of that moving, the Raiders were one of the pre-eminent franchises in the NFL between the mid-1960s and the mid-80s, winning three Super Bowls during that era behind coaches John Madden and Tom Flores. They have moved back and forth between Los Angeles and Oakland over the years, only to finally settle in Las Vegas in 2020. The Raiders, of course, are one of the great nomads in NFL history. However, there are bound to be plenty more Raiders-Texans games that fans on both sides can get excited about seeing in person. The Texans have gotten the better of the rivalry in the early years, including the first playoff game between the two sides. But then they played seven times in eight seasons, getting quite familiar with one another. Since the Texans are a young franchise, these teams didn’t meet for the first time until 2004. If nothing else, the two teams have regularly crossed paths over the years, developing just a tinge of rivalry between them. For two teams that don’t play in the same division, the Las Vegas Raiders and Houston Texans sure do like playing each other.
